Basic Rider Course 20-hour class split between classroom and actual riding, teaches the basic skills needed to operate a motorcycle in traffic. Includes familiarization with controls, practice on 125 and 250CC motorcycles, starts with basic skills and progresses to more advanced braking & turning techniques. Successful completion exempts the student from taking the riding skills test to obtain a Motorcycle endorsement on their NH driver's license (though it doesn't exempt one from paying the fee for the permit/endorsement). The program provides helmets and motorcycles for the basic and intermediate courses. This class runs in one weekend, or two consecutive weekends. The one-weekend plan is Friday 6pm - 9pm, and Saturday and Sunday 8am-5pm, while the two-weekend plan is Friday evenings 6pm - 9pm, and 8am-5pm on two consecutive Saturdays or Sundays. Some weekday courses are also available. Cost is about $85 [NOTES: I recommend the split weekend if possible, as the three-day course can be very tiresome if the weather isn't perfect. Be prepared to ride rain or shine - if you have rain gear, bring it along. This program is partially funded by NH motorcyclists through a small fee on bike registrations and license endorsements - A program BY riders FOR riders.-Wade]

Intermediate Rider Course 8-hour refresher course for students who have taken the Basic course within the last 12 months, but want more practice time on the motorcycle. Normally held on Saturdays or Sundays. Cost is about $45 Experienced Rider Course 8-hour course for riders with at least one year or 2000 miles of experience. Classroom discussion in the morning regarding safe riding habits & strategies. Riders must provide their own gear and motorcycle for afternoon range exercises. Normally held on Saturdays or Sundays, 8am - 5pm. Cost is about $50 Instructor Preparation Class 90 Hour course to make you an MSF-certified instructor; offered in various scheduling arrangements. Cost is about $120 [Notes: I am a much better rider for having become an instructor. I highly recommend everyone consider it. It doesn't take a natural teacher to do this, just enthusiasm for riding. -Wade] |
